For the past few years I have struggled finding a hobby. While at college, I was so focused on classes and work that I had no time to event think about a hobby. While I was hobbyless, my boyfriend is the type of guy who had a MILLION hobbies. He is a volunteer firefighter, he loves to scuba dive and he is an active video gamer. He is the kind of person who wants to try everything!
I really struggled with finding what I loved to do. If I had to choose, my hobby was NETFLIX! But, knowing that laying in bed all hours of the night, binge watching Netflix shows was super unhealthy for myself, I got back into crocheting and knitting.
Crocheting was a skill I learned in 2013. I can't remember what made me pick it up but it was something I picked up on really quickly and was a fast learner. From there, in 2015 I joined a knitting club and learned how to knit throughout the summer. I loved it, I was with group of older women who met 2 times a week for 7 weeks. Not only did I learn to knit, I learned a lot of amazing life lessons that summer.

Having not picked up a crochet hook or knitting needles for a couple of years since then, I decided to start back up. Since then I have fallen in love with the hobby. I crochet almost every single night and during the day when I can. I love to look up new patterns and stitches, as well as make things for my friends and family.
Moral of my story is... FIND YOUR NICHE.
I don't think I am the only one out there who struggled with finding a something they love to do. So here are some tips to help you...
1. Identify the talents and skills you’re good at.
This can be doodling, sewing, fixing cars, or kayaking.
2. Out of the list of talents and skills, what ones do you simply love doing.
Don't pick a hobby that you hate. A hobby should be something you enjoy, something that give you joy and satisfaction.
3. Find others who also love this hobby.
Join a club, Facebook group or ask around. There are people out there who have the same hobby as you. In my case, they may be 70-year-old women, but I was never alone!
4. ENJOY!
Finding your niche is like a sigh of relief. This is something that will make a bad week a whole lot better. Or something you can do to relax.
